    Excellent location, Excellent staff! As a former travel agent, the first thing that I look for at a moderately priced hotel is the level of courteous service and knowledge by and from the staff. Starting with Richard, our check-in-clerk, to the wonderful lady at the breakfast room every day, the staff earned 5 stars. My wife and I like to go walking, and everybody gave good directions on where to find affordable places to eat, and how to get there by foot. Yes, the rooms are small, but they are clean. If you have a family of 4 and choose to bunch up in one room, you will be crowded - but that's your choice. You'll still get a filling breakfast and will be less than 10 minutes away from all of the touristy places - and who wants to stay inside a hotel room when you're in Monterey?
